Moses's Staff

If you read the Book of Exodus you will read that Moses had a staff that did with it miracles. The Book refers to it as a staff given to him by God. I think his staff was a futuristic instrument not yet discovered even today given to him by UFO intelligence. That staff did wonders. It turned into a serpent, it splits a sea, it healed people and changed river water into red. Moses had a superpower in his hand. Yes, he was an old man with a superman power. Exodus was the first Superman comics ever written.

New Banknotes in Syria (Syrian Arab Republic)

Damascus, Syria, New banknotes will be issued in Syria beginning January 1, 2026. The new bank notes is equivalent to 100 times that of the old banknotes. The new Syrian pound or the 'Lera' will be equivalent to 100 old 'Lera.' The Syrian government has given the people 90 days (starting on January 1, 2026) to exchange their old money with the new one. This 90-day period is subject to be renewed as needed. The Syrian government will give 30 days advance notice of terminating the exchanged period. Meanwhile, Syrian merchants are required to post their items for sale in both banknotes and are to accept the old and the new money until the exchange period has ended. Syria is not printing more money to be distributed on the market but rather printing an equivalent amount of money to that currently available in circulation (in other words, no effect on inflation). The government has also declared that in the future, they are to completely eliminate banknotes and replace them with an electronic monetary system (i.e., no more cash).

Nasal Saline Rinse

People often clean their nasal cavity with a spray or a mist of saline solution. These are available commercially and have relatively low risk of causing adverse events. I have used these solutions for months now and after about 7 months of use I began experiencing unpleasant symptoms. It began about a month ago where I had discomfort and pain upon swallowing as if I had a sore throat. This feeling persisted for several weeks and continues to persist albeit it is milder and less frequent recently. Occasionally I still feel pain upon swallowing. I consulted an ENT physician last week and was told there was nothing abnormal (he scoped my throat with an intranasal tube that reached my throat; it sounds painful, but really it is not; it was quick with almost no discomfort at all). I finally googled side effects of intranasal saline rinses and found out that if the solution reaches the throat it will cause mild symptoms resembling a sore throat that can persist for a week or two after stopping their use. I stopped using them about 5 days and I am finding out that the symptoms are subsiding gradually. I think they will totally disappear by next week. This was an eye opener as I did not realize that they could cause throat irritation if they reached the throat. In fact, I made sure that the solution would reached my throat when I used them. It is a big mistake. According to what I read, they should be ok to use if you keep them away from your throat by not inhaling after you spray them in your nose. This can be achieved by tilting the head downward and forward without inhaling the spray. By the way, these solutions contain salt and water. In rare cases they may lead to infections if they get contaminated. Another thing, there are hypertonic rinses and isotonic rinses. It is better to use the isotonic rinses because they do not disturb tissues they come in contact with. As a final thought, my discomfort turned out not to be related to these rinses. So, I am back using them to flush my nose and sinuses. Consult your healthcare provider or your pharmacist concerning the use of these solutions. Each of us may react differently towards them.

An UPDATE: It turned out that nasal saline was NOT the cause of my pain. It was silent heartburn (GERD) that I am now treating it with 40 mg Prilosec and 10 mg Pepcid, daily.

Raw Kibbeh made of potatoes and burgle (cracked wheat)

"Raw" Potatoes 'Kibbeh'

'Kibbeh' is a Middle Eastern dish that comprises of cracked wheat and beef or lamb meat. It can be eaten raw with some olive oil added to it and with onion. Kibbeh can also be made into layers sandwiched in between the layers hamburger mixed with onions and pine nuts and then baked. Baked kibbeh is often eaten with 'baba ghanoush,' a dip made of yogurt and baked eggplants with olive oil and fresh garlic added to it. You can also make vegetarian kibbeh replacing the meat with mashed potatoes, and adding kibbeh spices, chili pepper, cumin, salt, and black pepper. The images in this post are for raw potatoes kibbeh. Kibbeh can also be made in the form of round pockets filled with a mixture of hamburger, onion, and pine nuts.

Christian Foundation for Children and Aging is a child sponsorship organization serving more than 310,000 children, youth and the aged in 25 developing countries. Through the generous support of primarily U.S.-based sponsors, CFCA provides basic life necessities, such as food, education, health care and more.

Additionally, the organization provides livelihood training programs for parents, and seeks to help families become self-sustaining, live with dignity and effect change in their communities.
