The answer to solve any problem

 Most people think that the answer to any problem we face in life is the simplest one. They are totally wrong. The reason this thinking is common because it was created by common people, not geniuses. The answer to any problem may not be known readily, and perhaps will never be known. Life is complicated and evil. Don't try to think about things that happen around you as simple and common. Everything happens around us has its own meaning. And everything happens around us depends on everything else happening around us. Remember the old Chinese saying, 'a butterfly moving its wings in China is part of the cause of the Hurricane in Mexico.' So true!

What, Where, Who, Why, and How

 In order for any story to be complete, you will need to know the 'What, Where, Who, Why, and How' about it.

What happened?

Where did it happen

Who's done it?

Why did they do it?

How was it done?

Simple questions, but each one of them is incomplete unless you know the others.

And, by the way, don't you ever plan to know all of them. In statistics, if an event occurred less than 10% of the time on its own, and you observe it, you are observing a miracle. Always ask, what is the probability of an event to occur by chance alone. If it is 10% or less, then that event is unusual and requires a great deal of information to be resolved, if ever it is resolved. People's action, any action, is based on cost and benefit. If the cost of an action is greater than its benefits, most people won't do it, a few though still do it. If the benefit exceeds the cost, most people will do it, though some will not. All of our actions are based on probability, even though we don't necessary calculate it, but rather perceive it. Human brain likes linearity; two is double one, four is double two, and so on. Life presents us with non-linear events, and we try to solve them or think about them linearly. That is why, most people gets confused and don't get it. When presented with a life problem, try not to think linearly. Genius and smart people are just that, smart and genius because they don't think linearly. Think about it this way, if you watch an ice cube melting you would know where the water came from. If you see water on the table, that water could've initiated from ice, from vapor that got condensed, or someone spilled water on the table. Our human mind is trained to think the latter. Most geniuses think the other two. That is why there are geniuses. Don't be like them. Like who, you would ask? You figure it out.

Life, It is Crapshoot

 

Life throws at you many curves. You think you are catching up and something happens to knock you down again. From unexpected car repairs, to a leaky water heater, to a dishwasher that decided to stop in the middle of its run cycle, to a microwave that stops heating your food, to a refrigerator that refuses to keep your food cold, and so on and so forth. You've got the idea. I started in April of 2019 accumulating debt. I thought I almost was able to pay it off by June of 2021, and of course, more debt started to reappear. I reached my maximum debt in October of 2023, and since then I began to get hold of it until June of 2024, and then again, more debt showed up. It seems I am heading now in the right direction. But wait, my real estate tax bill will be here in July, and I had some car engine problems recently that will knock me down (or up in the curve) again. Life happens, and that is why they call it life. It is crapshoot.

When does life begin?

According to biology, when a sperm conjoin with an egg a fetus starts its development toward a full human upon birth. Some consider the moment when a sperm and an egg become one is the point when life begins. Others think that life begins at birth, yet others believe that the fetus is fully human after the first trimester, or after the second trimester, and so on. In fact, none of the above notions are true! We actually just exist. Life is a continuum. Read this " Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations". This was said by God to the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:5/King James Bible). God actually is saying human beings do not born or die, they just recycle. It is the notion of "reincarnation" which is believed by many Eastern religions. So when does life begin? Actually life does not have a beginning or an end. Our existence on Earth is just temporally.  As why we exist on Earth is a totally different topic for another blog post to tackle. Stay tuned.

Emotions

This post is going to be very hard for me to write, let alone to complete. I am about to see my oldest son leave my home as he had turned 18 just over three months ago. He is currently without a job. There are factors, situations, and people all around me that are forcing me to make a decision I do not like, nor I see it appropriate. Yet, my hands are tied-up with things that are beyond my control. I have learned over the years that there are always factors that one cannot control. These are "the noise of life". What I can control might cause more pain to people I love dearly. I feel that I am literally between "a rock and a hard place". My main objective right now is to make sure that my son is moving to a safe and productive place in his life. A place where he can launch his future on a right path. How I will accomplish that is a matter of destiny... to be continued...

The Definition of Life

Today's discovery by a NASA team of scientists has changed the definition of life. We can no longer define life based on our narrow point of view from the planet Earth perspectives. NASA's discovery of a special type of bacteria capable of flourishing and thriving in an environment full of arsenic proves that life indeed can be unlimited in its forms.

States of Matter

Everyone knows that matter can exist as gas, liquid, or solid. However, a fourth state of matter known as liquid crystal is very abundant in nature. As the name implies, this state is an intermediate state between liquids and solids. Liquid crystalline state is also known as a mesophase. There are three types of mesophase state: Smectic, Nematic, and Cholesteric. They differ in their molecular arrangement of the molecules. Much of the lipids in our body is made of one of these mesophases. Thus, life is rich in mesophase structures. Is not that interesting that liquid crystal is not as popular as the other three? It is time for the mesophases to be recognized for their contribution to life itself and take their rightfull place among the states of matter.

Are We Alone?

Logic dictates that planet Earth cannot be unique in the Universe. Whether you believe in a creator or you do not, it is highly improbable that our beautiful planet is the only one that supports life. Scientists just discovered a new planet "similar" to ours some 20 light-year away. (If we could travel by the speed of light it would take us 20 years to get there.) Many believe that our planet is being visited by extraterrestrial aliens (ET). The intention of their visits, if they are true, remain unknown. I would argue that such ETs have mastered the ability to prolong their lives so much so that they could travel long distance and reach their destination alive. I hope it is true that we are being visited by such beings. Perhaps they could teach us a thing or two about extending our lives, a matter I get interested in it by the day as I get older. Random Error

If all things are exactly the same, life would be boring. If all things are so much different from each other, life would be too diverse. Neither scheme is acceptable. Thus, random error exists. No two stamps are exactly the same, no two chairs are exactly the same, no two humans are exactly the same. Life is diverse, but not too much so, that it looses its "connectivity". "Things" in life are usually described to follow a normal distribution. This distribution, as we learned it in school, has a perfect bell shape curve. A measurement that falls in the middle 95% of the distribution is said to belong to the whole; it is being one with the whole. Those measurements that are outside the middle 95% on either side are known to be too far from norm. The question is: if a measurement is located in this 5% zone, is it really different from the whole, or is it another manifestation of it? The answer to this question depends on the discipline you will use. A mathematician may answer the question in a totally different manner, than say a Rabbi. How would you answer it?
