No one knows the future

Does God knows the future? Yes, but He makes Himself not knowing it so that He does not interfere in our free will. Remember the Israelites, they used to request and remind God to save them from their enemies, as if the good Lord did not know about their problems. Often, God in the Old Testament was re-active rather than pro-active. Yes, He did plan the big picture, but the little things, you know, life things are for us, the mere mortals, to handle them. Can I pray for God for help? Of course, I can. I need to remind Him with my miseries, and these are many. Would He act to stop them? Preachers are smart. They tell us when what we asked for in prayers is fulfilled, they say 'God helped you.' If the things I ask for does not come to fruition, they say 'God did not want you to have it.' In both cases, it is God's will, or is it? How come we are told we have free will? If we don't, then God cannot punish us for our sins. But wait, why would God allow us to sin? Because He does not interfere in our daily life. But then wait a minute here, if He does not interfere in our daily life then does He know the future? Yes, He does, but He made Himself not to know the future. Then, do I have free will? No son, God is in control. Then, I should not be punished for my sins, correct? No son, you have free will. Which one is it? Do I have free will or not? I don't know, ask God! 

Moses's Staff

 If you read the Book of Exodus you will read that Moses had a staff that did with it miracles. The Book refers to it as a staff given to him by God. I think his staff was a futuristic instrument not yet discovered even today given to him by UFO intelligence. That staff did wonders. It turned into a serpent, it splits a sea, it healed people and changed river water into red. Moses had a superpower in his hand. Yes, he was an old man with a superman power. Exodus was the first Superman comics ever written.

The Creation

The Big Bang Theory is a well-known notion to explain how the universe was made or came to existence. Those who believe in a creator state that God was behind the Big Bang. The unbelievers respond by stating "then tell me who created God?" It is an argument often heard and people finally give up. Not so fast. The problem with the unbelievers' question is that its premise is wrong. It assumes that God is bound by time like matter. Not so. In the Old Testament, God used to identify Himself as "I am," meaning that God always existed. There is no beginning or end to God because time does not rule the Creator. He was the one who placed "time" in the universe. In fact, if one can travel the speed of light, to that person time does not exist. If you believe that matter existed on its own, then you are bound to violate the First Law of Thermodynamics. This Law states that matter cannot be created from nothing nor destroyed into nothing, it simply transforms from one type into another type. The total energy in the universe is constant. Whatever happened during the Big Bang, that energy of the explosion is all the energy the universe possesses, which is the energy that the Creator gave to the universe to exist. The universe is a function of time, but not God. He is "I am", the alpha and the omega.

How Do the Prayers of the Saints Reach the Lord God?

Answer:

In the Book of Tobit, the prayers of the saints are reported to the glory of God by the seven holy angels, one of them is the angel Raphael.

Moses' Serpent

When the people of Israel began to speak against God and Moses when they came out of Egypt, the Lord sent them venomous serpents. The people asked Moses to do something about it. The Lord instructed Moses to place a copper serpent on a signal pole. If any person got bitten by a serpent all he/she needed to do was to look at the copper serpent to heal. Because of its healing power, the people began to offer incense to it, disobeying the Lord God for not worshiping idols. This serpent on a pole was called Nehushtan.

So, where is this serpent now? Don't bother looking for it. It was destroyed by king Hezekiah of Judah. The king destroyed it into pieces so that the people would not worship it.

Life is Not Random

I was chatting with one of my co-workers the other day about his recent cataract operation he had on both eyes. He was explaining to me the function of the eye lenses and how the surgeon removed them and replaced them by synthetic material. He stated how important for the shape and the angle to be just right for these lenses to operate correctly. And, it suddenly hit me. How could this happen by random? How could these lenses form on their own randomly with exactly the right shape, angle, and location for a person to properly see? The work of the good Lord is manifested in all things. Just use your eyes if you don't believe me!

A Conversation with God

Dear God,

Let me first start by saying that prayers I learned in my church are those what the church has told us to repeat. No one really ever taught me how to pray. So I apologize in advance if this conversation sounds a bit simple-minded. I know you are there. I know that you already knew what I am going to write in this blog before I even started. So, even though I have no idea how I going to end this conversation I hope you liked it. Please don't think (I am not sure how to state this either) that everybody on Earth think this way. I hope not everyone is confused like me. We haven't seen a messenger from you for a while now. The last person who claimed that he was a messenger from you was in the sixth Century B.C. Stated simply, the only thing that I have from you is the Bible. When I read it, I get overwhelmed with its content and its symbolism. Someone told me once that to read the Bible "from the point of view of Christ". It made it easier, but it is still difficult to read and understand at times. There are stories of You being so angry and destroying everyone on this planet. There are stories of giants, kings, sinners, and saints. Stories of dead people's bones became alive with added flesh on the bones. Stories of prophets being taken to heaven without dying. Clouds and columns of clouds and fire and things in the sky flying, and others thundering and making nose. In the books of the Old Testament you set up rules and expected people to follow them. There were rules how to deal with leprosy and others for who should or should not eat the animal sacrificed. And, then suddenly, Your Son showed up, Jesus Christ. He told us things about you that were not clear in the Old Testament. He said you were Love. You were Our Father Who Art In Heaven. Others wrote letters about Your Son. They told us and tried to explain Jesus' sayings. Even someone, John, wrote a book on how things will finally end. Frankly speaking, his book is kind of a collection of stories if I were to tell them to my best friends I would end up in "Kookoos House". Your Son told us that He was going to send us the Holy Spirit. The last I checked, no one really knows where He is, except occasionally when someone gets baptized in the church or during a sermon. In short, I do believe in You. But, I must admit, it takes a great imagination. Love.

Do only humans have the Spirit of God? Think again!

The Spirit of God is in all things, in humans, animals, insects, rocks, wind, fire, rain, snow,..., everything.

Do You Believe?

Every human ever lived has probably wondered at one point of her life whether she believed in a "super being". Most people call the super being, God. If you are living on this planet Earth today you belong to one of the following categories: 1) You believe in God, 2) You don't believe in God (atheist), 3) You are not sure if God exists, but you keep an open mind, or 4) You believe in a totally different super being. You might also think of other categories, but these were the main ones. I tend to believe in God. I am a Christian. I am a Catholic, albeit not a perfect one, far from being a perfect one. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and my God. I don't believe in God to escape Hell. I am not afraid from going to Hell because I know (believe) that my Lord Jesus Christ has saved me from Hell. Let me repeat, the reason I believe in God because I know deep within me that God exists. My belief in God does not stem from fear of Hell. That would not have caused me to believe in God. Atheists think that believers do that (believing) because we are scared from going to Hell. That is not true, at least for the majority of us Christians. I know other religions may scare you to force you to believe in a deity. Not Christianity, it simply does the opposite. It makes you free. It liberates you. You don't have to apologize to God for forgetting to pray the morning prayer fearing that He will send you to Hell. Christian God does not operate as a memory for storing all your bad actions. Christian God is forgiving Christian God is a forgiving Father and He is LOVE. Our Father is PURE LOVE. If you are in needs for a loving father He is waiting for you with open arms. Come to Him all who are sad, downtrodden, weak, sick, miserable, poor, hurt, abandoned, forgotten, or abused. Come to Him. He is waiting to protect you and embrace you as your loving father. Don't wait anymore. He is waiting.

When Jesus healed 10 lepers, only one came back and thanked him. Jesus asked the man "where were the others." God likes our thanks because he loves us. Children who love their dad thank him. Thank you Father for all your gifts you have showered us with during 2014. We love you Father. Amen.

How to get closer to God?

The old type of balloons were fitted with sand bags all around their edges. As the balloon rises the operator would empty some of the sands, allowing the flying unit to reach higher levels. It is with the same way we get closer to God. As we empty our "sand bags" from sins and bad addictions we get closer and closer to the Lord, allowing our souls to sore spiritually to higher levels.

Why do people still die from cancer and HIV infection?

Clinical and basic science are continually finding new treatments for cancer and AIDS. However, people are still dying from these diseases. We pray daily and weekly for a cure. Why has not God responded yet to our prayers and tears? I believe the good Lord has already responded to our prayers and calls for finding cures. But we literately have killed them all. God has sent us people who were capable to find ways to eliminate cancer and AIDS and other diseases, but these future scientists and clinicians were killed in their wombs by abortion. Stop abortion now and let God help us all.

What came first the chicken or the egg? Here is the answer

This question is very easy to answer. I am just puzzled why it is still a mystery to so many. Actually the answer to this question depends whether you believe in a creator or you believe in evolution. But then you ask what if I believe in both. Fair enough. There is an answer to that too. Remember that the hint is in the Book of Genesis. God created man...and all creatures that inhabited Earth. It did not say that God placed an egg to hatch and produced man. It did not say that He first planted eggs all over the planet and then He waited for them to hatch. He created them as is. Thus, according to the Book of Genesis the chicken came first. Well you might say now that was a good reasonable answer. But, what if someone does not believe in God or in the Book of Genesis. This person believes in evolution. Well most evolution occurs due to mutations. These mutations affect the DNA and eventually produce new species. So chicken really came from an egg that carried a mutation from a similar creature to that of chicken. A pre-chicken species so to speak. So the answer to your question is the egg came before the chicken. But sir, I believe in God and evolution. I think God placed the laws of evolution to make life more interesting. It is a law of nature to see new things become alive and old things disappear. Life moves forward.. In this case then what came first the egg or the chicken? Well here is the answer to this one: no one really knows!

God Is Always Ready

Oftentimes we tend to forget about God. This might be intentional or unintentional. We think that God has forgotten about us as well. The Good Book tells the story about the "lost son". When the lost son decided to go back to his father home, he found his father waiting for him with open arms. The father in that story did not "force" his son to come back home. He was just waiting. How often we try to get back to the Lord, and in every time we find him with an open arms regardless of what we've done. Do you get the urge of going back to read the Bible? Do you want to run away from an "addiction" that keeping you from the arms of your father? Wait no longer. Just do it. And, your father will "ask his servants to prepare a feast for you." Because "my son was dead and now he is alive." If you feel God is calling you back to his house it is a very good sign that he still has hope for you. "If you hear his voice" don't delay to answer his call. He is waiting for you to hug you with his loving fatherly arms. He loves you.

Where is God?

I do not think anybody knows. There are a lot of theories and believes, but in fact no one really knows. Where is God in the time of distress? We often attributes good things to God and bad things to the work of the devil. In order to believe in God as the source of all goods, the devil is the source of all bad things. In fact, we ask God to "deliver us from evil." How come God does not interfere to stop bad things from happenings. It seems that the devil is always busy doing his things (just look around you to know what I am talking about.) However, the good lord is kind of silent most of the time. The Church teaches us that we are the hands of God. Well, I guess the devil has managed to recruit exceedingly more people to his camp. There is definitely no job availability left in the devil's camp. How come God does not interfere in massacres such as the one occurred in Germany during the WWII. How come God still allows children to die from hunger in 2012. Jesus taught us that God is love. He is a father that cares for his children. But, how about all these miseries all around us. There is one book in the Bible that may shed the light on this mystery. It is the Book of Job. Although this book is a fictional story, it has a tremendous depth to it. In it, the devil and God are chatting with each other?!  (Really, they were having a meeting of sort with each other.) The devil challenges God that no one would cling to God's side if the devil is allowed to torture them. The devil suggested that not even Job, a God-fearing man, would remain faithful to God if the devil is allowed to cause enough miseries in his life. God took the devil's challenge. Of course the devil had a wonderful time with Job, causing him one disaster after another. Despite Job's miseries he remained faithful to the Lord through it all. However, not without complaints. Many of us nowadays are modern life Jobs. You lost your job, your wife is nagging you about it daily accusing you that it was your fault. Your children are demanding you to buy stuff for them. You still need to feed your family, to provide shelter and clothing, Internet, and cable TV. You still have to drive your 2004 car and fill it with $4/gallon gas. And, despite your best efforts you still cannot land even a lousy single interview. You are depleting all your savings, and your house is going under. You declare that you are bankrupt and you and your family end up on the street lining up at soup kitchens. Your wife leaves you taking away from you all your children that you adore. You get diagnosed with stage II cancer and you don't have money to treat yourself. The doctors tell you you are a terminal case without a treatment. But yet you still love God the source of all good in your life. At least whatever good is left to thank him for it, and you only would thank him if someone throw at you a piece of leathery turkey on Thanksgiving Day perhaps with some mash potatoes and gravy on top (sounds good.)

Pray

I carry this bracelet in my wallet all the time to remind me that I need to pray. I found it on the ground of a soccer field long time ago when I was waiting for my son to finish his soccer game. I was asking for a message from God at that time about an issue in my life. I think I got that message.  "When in Doubt, Pray."

A Prayer for those Who Do not Know How to Pray

Two 8-year old boys were playing on the street in their neighborhood. A drive-by shooting car sped by them and killed one of the two boys, Tommy. His friend, Robby, knelt next to Tommy screaming trying to make him well again, but Tommy already gone. Robby looked up to the sky and said "Dear Lord: No one taught me how to pray to you. I know my friend, Tommy, is on his way to meet you. Would you please be as nice to Tommy as he was nice to me."
